Head of School’s Welcome

Welcome to the Thai-Chinese International School

An exciting road ahead awaits TCIS as we move into creating a school that prepares students for the careers, colleges and opportunities that await them. The future is indeed a confusing prospect for parents and educators to understand. What we learned, how we learned and why we learned and the challenges we faced are significantly different from what tomorrow’s future presents for our students and your children.

Our goal is building tomorrow, today. We are doing this through a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes tri-lingualism and language acquisition. Our students will have the opportunity to learn and become fluent in three languages by the time they matriculate; English, Chinese, and Thai. there are also opportunities in Korean and Japanese. As the school moves forward, Spanish will be added to complement the language focus.

Moving forward and building on the success under the leadership of former Head of Schools Dr. Steve Ballowe, we will endeavour to create learning spaces that are motivational, challenging, relevant and appropriate for all learners.

The school board and school administration have worked closely in developing a strategic plan that will map out the next five years at TCIS. I am excited to be the Head of School in an environment that is dynamic, flourishing, and forward thinking!

Come out on August 9th to our Open House and hear our plan for the future!

Who are we?

TCIS is an international school with an enrollment of 850 students.  We operate with a non-profit foundation board that has a record for supporting education. The faculty contains 82 highly qualified American Teachers, 13 Chinese Teachers and 8 Thai Teachers..

What are our physical facilities?

The TCIS campuses looks like a typical USA college campus quad. Around the quad we have separate buildings for our Lower School, our Middle School and our Upper School. To complement the academic program, we also have a building that houses our canteen, indoor swimming pool, library, music and robotics programs and our full-size basketball court. For convenience there is a parking garage next to our security entrance. In 2014 the campus installed a security system to ensure that our campus was among the safest in the world. In the physical center of our campus, we have an astro-turf athletic field that is used day and night! In 2014 a canopy was added to shade our young children’s play area, To complement the academic program, our buildings house 3 gymnasiums, a state of the art theater/ concert hall, multiple technology centers, and an extensive library and resource center.  All or our buildings and our classrooms are air-conditioned, with wireless access; supporting  our state-of-the-art technologies. TCIS is among the first “Google Schools in Asia”!

What is our academic program like?

TCIS is a college-prep school K-12. We follow an American curriculum for the core subjects of English, Math, Science and Social Studies and all elective courses. Again the highlight includes offering 18 Advanced Placement courses. Numerous options are also offered in music, the arts, athletics and technology. Middle School students may take high school course to ensure that they achieve as students in top international schools around the world. Our Middle and Upper Schools are “all Mac” (Grades 5-12) and every student has their own laptop. The Lower School incorporates iPADS in the academic programs.

What are our credentials?

TCIS is accredited:

--- To meet U.S. standards by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)

--- By ONESQA to meet Thailand’s Department of Ministry standards.

How does TCIS nurture the total student?

In addition to our quality academic program, TCIS recognizes that students are gifted in many areas and have individual interests that are necessary to nurture. Consequently, a full range of artistic, activity and athletic programs are offered all students attending TCIS. Instrumental Band, Orchestra, art classes complement the academic instruction from Lower School to High School. A full Physical Education program serves students from Pre-K to grade 12. This program is complemented by 55 sport teams serving students from Lower School to High School. Our sport teams are all affiliated with the Bangkok Independent Schools Athletic Association (BISAC). For our future Presidents and leaders, a full range of leadership programs exist, from students council to regular field trips that promote environmental awareness, global citizenship responsibility to respecting our wonderful country of Thailand.

TCIS fully nurtures strong minds, bodies and character!

Can you afford TCIS?

TCIS is one of the most affordable international schools in Thailand. Reviewing the top 25 tuitions in Bangkok, we have the 21st lowest in tuition, often 2 or 3 times less than other programs.

Still, TCIS delivers a “top ten” instructional academic program that is equal or better than every other program in South East Asia. You won’t find a better American education learning environment at any price!
