Notes from Dr. Steve

14 February 2017

To: TCIS Community,

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is an important partner with TCIS. Accreditation ensures TCIS coursework is honored by universities and schools around the world. Our current accreditation is good until 2020. From March 12 to March 14 of this year, TCIS will host our mid cycle evaluation review. Attached are two summary reports that identify the recommendations made by WASC in March 2014 and March 2016 to continue improvements at TCIS. With the support of the Board and our Parent Association and Faculty Association. the administration has guided improvements to address recommendations.

With the continuing success of our student's achievements and hard work of the faculty and staff. I am pleased to report that we expect another positive review from our W ASC evaluation team.

TCIS is the Best International School in Thailand, when you compare academics and tuition!

On behalf of Mr. Suhat and our Board, thank you for your ongoing support ofTCIS! TCIS is committed to providing the best teaching and learning program possible!

Please let me know if you have any questions about our WASC update or ways to improve TCIS.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven E. Ballowe

OFFICIAL LETTER - WASC UPDATE FEB 2017

03 November 2016

TCIS is very happy to announce that two areas are being addressed to improve the safety of our campus and health of all members of our school family.

First, an AED machine has been purchased and will be housed in our first aid room.

Second, training for the AED machine and CPR will occur before the New Year holiday. These training sessions will become annual events.

Thank you to Mr. Suhat and the Board for supporting these important additions.

If you have any questions, please chat with any administrator.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steve

07 October 2016

As we begin this 2016-2017 school year, I would like to review with you the successes from 2015-2016 and the vast improvements that have been made at TICS.

Last year was our best year in the history of TCIS and the 2016-2017 school year will be even better.

Consider our strengths:

--Three languages of instruction: English, Chinese and Thai with American curriculum standards.

--High school Advanced Placement program with world-wide acceptance

--Middle school academic acceleration equals top international schools

--Lower school differentiation for instruction is now provided

--Language Academy serves students requiring immersion for English language acquisition

--Technology utilization and recognition as a “Google School”

--Student Support Services able to individually nurture and guide all students

Indicators of success:

1.      WASC accreditation approved until 2020

2.      SEARCH Associates restored the TCIS partnership

But the best indicators are with the success of students:

3.      100% of graduates accepted at universities around the world

4.      HS students score above international levels on the ACT test

5.      MS students MAP scores in the top 10% of the world for over 60% of all students

6.      LS and MS students continue to have accelerated and differentiated academic programs.

Note: Student Services individually guides students

7.      HS graduation standards are increased from 23 credits to 27 credits due to acceleration at the MS

8.      HS students GPA continues to improve

9.      93.9% success completing objectives on our strategic plan

10.  Academic improvements:  Consider:

In 2012, no grade 8 student achieved math instruction beyond Algebra 1.  (two years behind international peers)

In 2016, all grade 8 students are in Geomety, Algebra 2 and pre-Calculus!

Truly, “TCIS is the Best International School in Thailand”, when you compare academics and tuition!

Also the Best when you review our success indicators!
