High School Grade 9

High School Grade 9

Welcome to High School!  Transitioning from Middle School to High School can be challenging for some students.  The Student Services Department will be here every step of the way!  We hold atransitional meeting with students early on in the semester to provide them with expectations and strategies for success in high school.  Whether students have questions about their academics or any personal/social concerns, our team is here to provide support in English, Thai, or Chinese.

One of the most important Grade 9 tasks is to get off to a great start.  Specifically, freshman grades will be included on a High School transcript, which universities will see when students apply for college.  We encourage our students to put forth their best efforts and ask their teachers or a counselor for help when needed.   Peer tutoring is often available for students in need of academic support or students can sign up for our After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) to receive tutoring from a TCIS teacher.

As part of their graduation requirements, students will need to complete 40 hours of community service starting in Grade 9. Thus, students are encouraged to get involved in extracurricular activities.  This could include joining a sports team, one of the many clubs offered at TCIS, volunteering, becoming a peer tutor, or anything they wish to get involved in outside of the classroom.  Not only will this help them with completing this requirement, but it will also help students build their character, explore their interests, and discover more about themselves.

Parents are encouraged to attend parent-teacher conferences throughout the school year, and are invited to join us at the various presentations given by the Student Services Department.
