Peter Dalglish, a Canadian humanitarian, founder of both the Street Kids International charity and the Trails Youth Initiative program, and former Country Representative for U.N.-Habitat in Afghanistan, visited TCIS to address our G4-12 students on the value of public service which he calls "finding another path." Peter graduated from law school and was ready to embark on a lucrative career when he got involved in organizing an airlift of food and medical supplies to Ethiopia in the 1980s and his life since then has focused on improving the lives of those less fortunate. His work has taken him to Africa, Afghanistan, Nepal and beyond and he spends much of the year in Bangkok where his work supports children in Khlong Toei.
Many of our students were inspired by Peter's work with children and talked with him afterwards about opportunities to teach and volunteer locally and internationally.
TCIS focuses on developing the whole child and inspiring students to give back and make the world a better place is part of what we do.
Peter will return on January 30th to talk with parents about the college admissions process. Peter does interviews for Stanford University admissions.
